WHAT IS THE KONA FIVE?
The Kona Five Ultra Triathlon is an annual event consisting of 5 Iron Distance Triathlons (on the Kona Ironman World Championship Course)… in 5 Days (120 Hour Cut Off)… all Self Supported (No Crew for 120 Hours).
It was first completed by “Kona Keith” Rieger in 2016 and is featured in his book “Kona Five – Taking On Life’s Challenges and Kona’s Toughest Ultra-Triathlon“ available on Amazon.
In 2017 it was completed by “Kona Keith” and Joshua Baker and is featured in this 42 minute documentary produced by Metta Tale Productions.
In the Spring of 2018, it was ranked as the “3rd hardest triathlon in the world” by 220 Triathlon Magazine.
In the Fall of 2018, while training for the Kona Five, “Kona Keith” was hit by a truck while cycling (severely injuring his pelvis, back, and ankle), he is currently rehabbing and hoping to someday complete another Kona Five.
